Manchester BBC protest over BBC Panorama program

E-mail Print PDF

"I survived the Mavi Marmara. i know what happened. I saw my friends shot at close range by Israeli commandos. People lay bleeding on deck and the Israelis prevented medical assistance - so they bled to death. The Panorama program reported none of this.

"The BBC repeated the lies the Israelis told. If we were armed with guns where are they? Where are the bullets? Where the injured Israelis? There weren't any. The only guns abroad were those brought onto the ship by the Israelis.

"It is for us to tell the real story of what happened. We will not be intimidated."

Paveen Yaqub speaking at the protest outside the BBC in Manchester.

Lift the Siege of Gaza!    End BBC Bias!

1pm - 2.30pm. Sunday 22nd August BBC. Oxford Rd. Manchester

Since shooting nine peace activists dead, the Israeli state has led a concerted attempt to rewrite history—making their commandos the victims of an assault by “terrorists”. Shamefully the BBC went along with this in Monday’s Panorama programme.

BBC Panorama bias against Gaza Aid Flotilla

You can watch 'Death in the Med' again here:

The nine people from Turkey who were on the Mari Marva taking aid to Gaza did not 'die' as Panorama reports - they were 'killed' by Israeli commandos. Israeli press releases that those the aid flotilla were armed were repeated - even though Israel has since withdrawn such an allegation!

Gaza still faces a brutal siege and occupation. On the 18th September Viva Palestina is launching "Viva Palestina 5 - a global lifeline to Gaza", a gigantic land convoy leaving London, in conjunction with convoys leaving from Casablanca and Doha and timed to coordinate with a larger and even more international flotilla aiming to reach Gaza by sea at the same time as the land convoys reach by land. Full details here.
