Saturday 9th October - 2pm - Friends Meeting House, Mount St Manchester
Afghanistan - Time to Go!
Joe Glenton - rebel soldier who refused to redeploy to Afghanistan
Andrew Murray - national chair of STWC
Lance Corporal Joe Glenton was sentenced to 3 month in military detention due to opposition to the Afghan war. After his time there as a soldier he refused to redeploy, and spoke out publicly against the war.
"I saw we were not helping there. And we were lied to about what the war is really about. The support I received for my stand was tremendous, I was getting 300 letters a day while inside. A big thank you to all who signed cards and wrote to me. Many fellow soldiers have also supported me.'
Joe was released in the summer.
The Annual General Meeting of Greater Manchester Stop the War Coalition will follow this meeting.
