Troops Out of Afghanistan! Stop the Spread of War to Pakistan!
7pm Thursday 9th July. Friends Meeting House. Mount St Manchester M2 5NS

Speakers include:

Mohammad N Asif, Chair, Scottish Afghan Society
Karla Ellis, Military Families Against the War
Nahalla Ashraf, Stop the War Coalition

According to the Afghan Government the US air strikes in Afghanistan killed 140 civilians last month in bombing raids on May 4 in the western Farah province. The US at first denied civilians were killed, but faced with the facts they then agreed that civilians were killed - but only after a Channel Four TV investigation interviewed the survivors.

Two more British soldiers have been killed by bombings in Afghanistan. A soldier from The 2nd Battalion the Rifles was killed as a result of an explosion during an operation near Sangin, northern Helmand Province. Meantime 20-year old Private Robert McLaren from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed on Thursday morning. He had been in Afghanistan just four weeks.

These needless killings and deaths in Afghanistan will continue as long as the US and NATO continue with the brutal occupation. Mohammad N Asif, Interim Chair, The UK Afghan Democracy and Reform Movement, will speak at this meeting.

"We will work very hard to end the illegal invasion of our Afghanistan in a peaceful and democratic manner and to established one United Afghanistan for everyone to live in. We will try our very best to expose the corruption, unjust killing, poverty, extra judicial killing, abduction of political dissidents, Rape and Murder of the innocents and many more in Afghanistan."
--Mohammad N Asif

The Afghan war has been spread to Pakistan.

Villagers in Pakistan have been bombed by US drone aircraft. At US insistence the Pakistan army has stepped up the 'war against its own people'. Millions have been displaced. The root cause of the spread of war to Pakistan is the continuing war and occupation of Afghanistan.
