United Protest in Support of Arab Revolutions

This year has brought Tunisians, Egyptians Libyans, Bahrainis, Syrians, Palestinians and Spaniards - joined by Mancunians - onto the street of Manchester.
Greater Manchester Stop the War Coalition is hosting a protest vigil to unite all those struggling across the world for freedom and real democracy.
"On 27th May, hundreds of thousands of Egyptians demonstrated on the squares of Egyptian cities in Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Mansoura, and others in a "Second Friday of Rage" to demand the Military Council to speed up the process of trying Mubarak and all the ex-corrupt ministers and businessmen for their crimes, and to stop arresting and trying the revolutionaries before military courts. Come join us on this rally to support our struggle in fulfilling all the demands of our revolution." Dahlia Mustafa, has just returned from Tahrir Square.

Stop Arming and Training Dictators and Despots!
'Spreading democracy' was, according to George W Bush, the reason for the 'war on terror.' But ten years of war has brought only devastation, death and corrupt rulers, to the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Western powers and their client rulers, from Egypt to Israel, from Suadi Arabia to Bahrain were strengthened in the rule over 'their' people by this 'bombing for democracy' policy. The Palestinians continue their struggle to end the Israeli occupation.
It is now time that Britain and the US stopped arming dictators and despots, and stopped training. And stopped training the armies and the military police of the dictators and despots across the region.
Western Hands Off The Arab Spring!
It was the Arab masses that brought to the people real democracy. First in Tunisia and then in Egypt. Now the Arab Spring is bringing inspiration and hope for real change to peoples right across the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond. But now those who fought the 'war on terror' are trying to halt, to limit or to hijack the revolutions. That is why they are bombing Libya, supporting the King in Bahrain, and applauding Israel. They are fearful the revolution in Egypt will 'go too far.'
It is for the people of the region to decide their own future!

A decade of marches and protests has shown that people here are opposed the 'war on terror.' As the BBC continues to pedal a pro Israeli line, the BBC on Oxford Rd has become a regular site of opposition to war, and now a place to show support for those fighting for democracy.
We call on people from every community from across the City to join together and unite in the struggle for real change!
