Afghanistan has turned into a bloody disaster. Last week dozens of Afghan villagers were bombed while collecting fuel from stolen oil tankers. Last month British soldiers died protecting election boxes where onl y handfuls of people voted.
More and more people are coming to realise why Afghanistan is called the 'graveyard of empires'. The war in Afghanistan is being 'lost'. It is unacceptable that more and more are being killed.
In the US, in Britain, Canada, Germany, and Poland most people want their troops out of Afghanistan. Yet Obama is preparing to send even more, and Brown will want to follow. He is talking about sending another 2,000 British troops.
The more soldiers sent the more lives lost. That is why we are campaigning for all British forces to get out of Afghanistan.
Britain faces a 'military and strategic defeat' in Afghanistan,
according to a top army report the government tried to suppress. One of the few Labour MP's with Army experience resigned last week. 'People have not been told the real reason we are in Afghanistan', he said. More and more people are coming to realise why Afghanistan is called the 'graveyard of empires'. The war in Afghanistan is being 'lost'. It is unacceptable that more and more are being killed.
Afghanistan, once called the 'good war', even the 'winnable war' has turned into a bloody disaster. Last month British soldiers died protecting election boxes where only handfuls of people voted, Afghan president Kharzai is set to be 're-elected' with a government of war lords, drug barons, and rapists. This is the government NATO forces are there to protect.
The 'new' strategy of 'protecting the Afghan people' was blown apart last week when dozens of Afghan villagers were bombed while collecting oil from tankers stolen by the Taliban. This in the northern part of the country, until now an area considered to be peaceful. With the promised reconstruction never delivered, financial aid stolen and spent largely on training the Afghan police and the army, there is no sign of winning the 'hearts and minds' of the Afghans. |
