1.'Gagged' soldier Joe Glenton's mum and his wife will speak in Manchester - Sat 28th November. 12 noon Manchester Town Hall

Lance Corporal Joe Glenton is now in military prison. He faces charges which carry a ten year sentence.

His 'crime' was to say what most in the country believe - that the troops should come home from Afghanistan. Joe was using the very human rights we were told the war was being fought for, when he spoke out. He refuses to go back to Afghanistan, he led the Stop the War march last month.

The Army have detained him to try and stop him speaking out.

'You hear generals and politicians saying we should get out of Afghanistan every day, but when Joe says it they lock him up. Well they have gagged Joe, but they will not gag me, and they will not gag his wife from speaking out either', Joe's mother Sue Glenton told us last week.

Sue Glenton, and Joe's wife Clare will both speak at a launch meeting in Manchester a week Saturday.

PUBLIC MEETING - Free Joe Glenton! - Troops Home From Afghanistan!

2pm Saturday 28th November, Manchester Town Hall. Albert Square. M60 2LA

Organised by GM STWC

2. Manchester will protest when 100th soldier is killed in Afghanistan

It is a tragedy that we expect to hear shortly that the 100th British soldier will have been killed in the war in Afghanistan during this year, 2009.

We will conduct a protest vigil in Manchester shortly after the announcement is made. An email will follow giving details of the day and time. You can check our website  for details

3. Help military families take petitions to Downing St - appeal for funds for transport

Thousands of names have been collected from across the city on the Troops Out Of Afghanistan! petition. Many signing are people from military families who have family or friends in the forces in Afghanistan. Petitions will be handed in to Gordon Brown at 10 Downing St on Saturday 21st December.

We appeal for donations so we can pay the fares of ex soldiers and military family members from across Greater Manchester who want to join the delegation in London handing in the petitions. Please send cheques to 'GMAW' PO Box 111. Chorlton Manchester M21 0AW
